Planning a wedding in the hills? Well, look no further, Bells and Bows have got you covered.
Getting married amidst snow-peaked mountains, whiffing the
pine-smelling air - sounds like a magical experience. However, pulling off a
hill-station wedding can be like treading a tightrope. Nevertheless, we have
come to your rescue, with 5 easy tips to plan a wedding in the hills.
1. Guest-list: Before you go about looking for a venue, it’s best to settle on a guest-list in order to accommodate them in the property of your choice. While some renowned hotels can accommodate up to 350 guests, others have fairly limited room inventory.
2. Venue: After finalizing the guest-list, booking the venue should be your top priority. With a wide range of hill-stations in India-including Mussoorie, Mahabaleshwar, Ooty, Coorg, Shimla and Lavasa, shortlisting a venue is primarily dependent on the number of guests, availability of premium properties, and ease in transportation (Airports/Railway Station).
3. Permits and Licenses: After shortlisting venues, it’s best to understand the license requirements for each location. While some properties allow music outdoors, others have a strict no-loud-music policy. Also, every state has its own set of rules- so it’s best to check all license requirements in advance.
4. Temperature Control: While hill-station weddings are a gorgeous sight, but the chilly weather can dampen your celebrations. It’s best to be equipped with gas-heaters or bonfires in order to deal with the biting cold. Another way to tackle the situation is by providing personalized stoles or hot-water bags to your guests as wedding favors.
5. Medical support: Hill-station weddings are a lot of fun, but keeping in mind the cold weather/low atmospheric pressure, access to medical care facilities is important. Keep medicines and first-aid kits handy. In case of oxygen-related issues, ensure the guests have access to hospitals or clinics nearby.
